I wanted to start off with this question because I hear it ALOT. If you’re asking this question, I’m afraid you’re in the wrong place. There are many shelters that you can adopt a cat from with a low cost. Maine Coons are luxury purebred cats, just like any purebred dog (frenchie, bulldogs, etc..). I find this question quite rude because it shows there is no consideration put in of the cost and work associated with breeding. This is a 24/7/365 day a year job. Not only is it extremely expensive to import our cats from overseas, pay a courier and all fees at the airport, but when the cat arrives we go through extensive testing to ensure he/she is healthy to breed and be safe around our other cats. Some other costs include good quality food (wet and dry), litter (TONS OF IT), XL cat trees (they don‘t last long), toys (those don’t last long either), grooming tools and appointments, new furniture and walls that get scratched up, regular and unexpected vet appointments (C-section, hurt leg, urinary problem, colds, etc), birthing supplies, supplements, blankets and puppy pads….this is just to name a few. On top of the materialistic costs, it is ALOT of work.. there isn’t a day where I don‘t clean for hours. So in summary to answer this question, we have to price the kittens how they’re priced to get just a small compensation for all the work that gets put in.
Maine coons are great additions to the family. They are sweet, lovable and playful cats. There isn’t a single cat or kitten that has had the same personality.. they are all different in their own ways. Some are more outgoing than others, some love to cuddle more than others, and some are more mischievous than others. They are very smart and you’ll figure out soon what they like and don’t like. They are a great pet so have around kids!
Kittens come home with two vet exams, up to date on vaccines and dewormings, microchipped, blood tested for feline immunodeficiency virus and feline leukemia virus, fecal exam done, health certificate, vet history, and a 2 year health guarantee... as well as a goody bag of toys and food.
All of our cats are raised in our home. We have an extra cat room with large French doors that look into the living room dedicated just for the Queens (some are living right down the street with my mom, dad and brothers), and an add on room with large French doors in our master bedroom for the kittens. The Kings are in the house separate from the Queens. None of our cats or kittens are ever In any kind of cage. They are raised with our 3 young children who love them dearly and give them lots of attention.
No, we do not give breeding rights at this time. You have to show proof of spay/neuter in order to get their TICA registration papers.
This is a big topic of discussion. Some breeders spay/neuter their kittens before they go home. We don’t because a lot of vets I’ve talked to say this is too young for such a large breed. Most vets recommend between 6-9 months. Again, there are many opinions on this topic. Talk to your vet and do lots of research before deciding when the right time is.
No. We do not ship cargo as this is very stressful for kittens and imposes a huge risk of catching some kind of disease/virus by being next to other animals in a small enclosed space. We can provide you information with trusted couriers to deliver your kitten to you, or we are glad to meet at the austin airport so you can bring the kitten back on your lap.
We are located near Austin, TX.
No. We went away with our waitlist because many people ended up never responding while we were waiting for days and 80% ended up changing their mind. We figure if you want one of our kittens you will stay in touch with us and check in every so often to let us know you’re still interested.
When kittens are around a month old and thriving, we begin accepting a 500$ NONrefundable deposit to hold your kitten until pick up day. We have a deposit agreement contract that states it is NONrefundable if you decide to back out. We will refund the deposit if something ends up being wrong with the kitten health wise.
Maine Coons range from 2000-4500 on average in the US. Less than 2000 is generally a scam.. there are many scammers out there so do your research before sending anyone money. Our girls start at $2500 and the boys start at $2800. Black smokes, high silvers, and polys are more. We also have to take into consideration if there is a small litter, or if there is an expensive vet visit such as a C-section, which may change the pricing a bit.
It is very hard to tell how large your kitten will get when they are so little. Maine coons aren’t considered fully grown until 3-4 years old. Females weigh on average between 12-16 lbs and males between 16-23 lbs. Body sizes also vary. Some are long and tall, where others are more solid and not as slender and long. Breeding cats will most likely not reach their full weight due to hormones, the need to mate and the need to supplement their kittens. Spayed/neutered cats have the potential to get much bigger. I have seen breeders say their cats weigh 25+ lbs but that likely is exaggerated. Cats this size are also more proned to hip and joint problems.
Because our cats are in our home with our children, we do not allow visitors. Not only is it a safety concern to let just anyone in our home, but it‘s also a big risk to the kittens to potentially catching some kind of bug or germ. We are available to FaceTime at any time.
Kittens go home after 12 weeks of age. Maine coons grow long and slow due to their large size and it’s very important the kittens stay with their mom until at least 12 weeks old. At this time, they will have received 2 sets of vaccines with the last vet appointment being at 12 weeks old. They will also receive their rabies shot, microchip, and another fecal and vet exam at that visit.
